Darryl Thomas is a former U.S. Marine, father of three and previous author of The Joys of Fatherhood. During his service as a Marine and being from Detroit he had the opportunity to meet and associate with other nationalities and live in other cities not predominantly African American, it was an eye opener how alive and well intolerance exists in America. Darryl Thomas was surprised to find out the country he served to protect was not a utopia where everyone was treated fair and equal. Growing up in Detroit he was blind to the reality of abhorrence in America.
