The author first worked in northeast Brazil as a Jesuit priest, later as a Peace Corps Volunteer, and finally with the National Department of Housing. Now he and his lovely Brazilian wife have three grown sons and split their time between his hometown and hers. His next novel will be historical, about a heroic revolution that shook that country 100 years ago -- in the very same backlands as “Wake Up, Pretty Maria”
