Stephen Wilhelm Ph.D., a John Simon Guggenheim Fellow, is a highly regarded Professor of Plant Pathology, University of California, Berkeley. Through his research in soil fumigation and hybridizing, he was instrumental in revolutionizing the strawberry and raspberry industries. His other publications include A History of the Strawberry from Ancient Gardens to Modern Markets, California Strawberry Commission, “The Pink Sheet” strawberry news bulletin, and Einstein’s Dilemma. In addition to his writings, Dr. Wilhelm spends pleasurable hours cultivating his extensive home gardens. He lives in the San Francisco Bay area with wife Betty.
