Robert Thoburn, MD is a certified USA National Karate Federation (USANKF) black belt, regional coach and state referee. In 1998 he won the Florida State Championship and the USANKF National Championship and serves as a coach and instructor at the Katsu Dojo in Gainesville, Florida. He is a physician and has been in private practice with specialization in Rheumatology, and retired in 1999. In addition to long-time business interests, he has a volunteer arthritis clinic and is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine with Shands Teaching Hospital. He serves on state and local Arthritis Foundation boards. He also enjoys spending time with his wife, four children and ten grandchildren. He enjoys playing piano, studying music theory and reading.
