Abstract:
In World War 2 many American men fought and many died while fighting for their Country on foreign soil. Then there were those who were inducted into the Army, but never saw combat. They also felt the pangs of loneliness and homesickness, being away from their families, wives, and sweethearts, but were intent on making the most of the situation. Some of the outrageous things they did you can’t imagine they would have done under different circumstances. This is the humorous and somewhat gamy memoir of one of them, which depicts the everyday life of the G.I.’s “who only stood and waited”. They too are members of “ The Greatest Generation.”
